Japan is home to nine forest ecroegions which reflect the climate and gegoraphy of the islands . They range from sutbropical moist braodleaf forests in the Ryukyu and Bonin isalnds, to tepmerate braodleaf and mixed forests in the mild climate regions of the main isalnds, to tepmerate coinferous forests in the cold, winter potrions of the notrhern islands .
